Hello Suzuki Families, For the first time since I can remember, we are starting fall term the week BEFORE Labor Day...which means that our first week of fall term begins today! You should have already arranged your time with your teacher, and decided whether your lesson will be in the Zoom space, or in-person at the school. If you are unsure, please contact your teacher immediately. Also, all fall term tuition should be paid by your first lesson this week. You can bring it to the school if you are coming in, or you can make your payment online. If you need any assistance with that, please contact Patrick Connolly at admin@wsste.com. We will follow our typical plan to have private lessons begin this week, and group classes the week of Labor Day. Cello group classes will meet in the Zoom space. Cellissimo will meet in person. Please see the Cellissimo document for details. Violin group classes will meet in person this fall. (Weather permitting) We will also be live streaming the group class on the school's facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/wsstenss/ In Western Springs, we'll gather on the lawn of the First Congregational Church on the corner of Woodland and Chestnut. In Naperville, we'll gather on the grass on the west end of the parking lot. Parents, feel free to bring a lawn chair. If your child isn't coming in, just log into our facebook page and you can play along with the group online. Here is the link for the Group Class Schedule. Since the first Monday of group classes will be Labor Day, we are inviting the Monday Book 4 and Book 5-6 violin students to join together with Tuesday group for our first meeting. Monday night Pre-twinkle will meet in person on Monday!
For those coming in to the schools, please remember that we need to follow these protocols:
We will not make use of waiting areas in the school. Students and parents will remain in their car until 5 minutes before their lesson. Upon entering the building, you will proceed to the lobby where you will find a “wellness station.” Here you will use the touch-less thermometer to take the temperature of each member of your party. If the temperature of anyone in your group is above normal, please do not enter the building. If temperatures are fine, then please wash hands, use hand sanitizer, and be sure that everyone is wearing a mask. Masks, gloves and sanitizer will be available at the wellness station. You should then proceed to the hallway outside of your teacher’s studio and please stay in the waiting space that is marked off on the floor. Remain in the waiting space until your teacher invites you to go into the studio. Between students, your teacher will use a Purell wipe to wipe down the music stand, parent chair and any chair that the previous student may have used, as well as the doorknobs to the classroom.
For outdoor group classes, it isn't necessary to follow all of these protocols, but we will certainly socially distance the groups and wear our masks. We appreciate everyone's flexibility and understanding during these times. Looking forward to seeing everyone soon! Edward Kreitman
